Family Wall

As we were building our new home a year ago I was surfing Pinterest one evening and saw something that I could adapt and put to use in the home.  We have vaulted ceilings in the great room and a very tall wall above the staircase that I struggled to know how to decorate it.

I wanted to hang pictures there and after seeing this used in a smaller method I knew that this is what was destined to become our Family Wall.  I described to our builder what I wanted and he didn't get it so he had me talk to the custom framer who caught the vision very quickly. I knew because of the height that I didn't want to change pictures on that wall and most of all I didn't want to worry about repositioning nails each time etc. so this is what we came up with.  The photos on two top tiers will not change and then we will make adjustments as the family grows and changes.  If the picture needs to be horizontal or vertical it is an easy adjustment and it looks like the frames are floating on the wall.  We were one of the Parade of Home entries for the year and it was seriously ONE of the most talked about things in the home, much to our builders chagrin, he really never liked the idea but he came around.  The wall became affectionately called the "Pinterest Wall" by all of us.
