June-the speed just got faster!!!!!!!

Rebecca has remained close to her P.A.C.K. advisor from her senior year of high school. She was very excited to learn that Miss Wilson was getting married and she and a friend decided they would throw her a bridal shower. What they didn't plan was how expensive those type of events can be. Rebecca wanted to buy orange rolls from Shirley's but decided that would be too expensive. I decided to take advantage of a learning moment and we embarked on teaching Rebecca how to make orange rolls. I love times like these because it gives an opportunity for more bonding time. I'll never pass that up in a addition to that it was very fun.

The next day was the shower, it turned out really well, despite the rain that came part way through and drove everyone inside.

Reb was able to tell everyone that she made the rolls and it was fun to see their response.

Kerry and I had spent the night at Jessica and Dave's because she had to be to the hospital for her surgery. She had to be there early so we went and stayed with the boys and let them wake up at a normal time and then we got them dressed fixed breakfast and took them to the house.
Rebecca had everything pretty well set up by the time that we got there to help her.
After the shower I stole away to the hospital to check on Jessica. She was in recovery when I got there to see her. She was groggy but the surgery went well. I talked Dave into letting the boys stay overnight at our house so that he could focus on Jessica when he got her home. He was reluctant because he loves being with the boys so much but he finally agreed.

I was concerned for Jessica and her recovery but I have to admit that it was so excited to have our first Official sleepover with the boys!!!!!!!!!!!

We watched Alvin and the Chipmunks and Spencer crashed half way through it and then we watched Cars before Caleb gave up, I think he has a little of his mom pulsing through him!!!!!

The next morning Spencer was ready for games and a fun day. Anyone seen Spencer?

We went to Rachel's house to play on the playground for a little while. Of course Spencer was Captain Jack on some of the equipment, that magically became his ship.

Just like the day before the rain came and changed the plans. We had to hide up under the equipment to keep dry. When it let up a little we made a mad dash for her house.

By the time we got back to our house the sun had come out and it turned into a beautiful day.

Grandpa was trying to get his long list of things done and the boys decided they wanted to help plant the grow boxes.

The next project was to help Grandpa gather pine cones in the front yard. He promised a penny a piece for the ones they gathered.

Time to count them out. Some how the penny turned to more like twenty cents each but Grandpa loved the time with them.

Everyone seemed to love the old couch on the front porch except me, as Cydney said "it is a little ghetto." Dave and Jessica pulled up as they were playing out front, they had gone to see the Dr. for her post surgery checkup and stopped on the way home to pick up the boys.
We had gone to get her flowers for when they saw her. No one was ready for them to leave when they did. But the nice thing is there will be other sleepovers!!!!

I just hope that Jessica is feeling much better soon, it has been a rough summer for her.

The Beach's

Of course one of the reasons to come to Hawaii is to head to the beach! Several nights after Kerry got back to the hotel from work we would go and get dinner and then Rachel, Kerry, and Cameron ran to play in the surf, until they got stung by some creature.

It's hard to see but they were really laughing and screaming in the water.

One day we went to Waimea Bay and just relaxed and played, some snorkeled a little but we all got sun burned!

As we were driving up the North Shore trying to decide where we were going to go to snorkel Kerry noticed a few turtles poking their heads up. He pulled over and we went out to the beach to see them. They were right at the water's edge feeding and it was so cool. I couldn't believe how close we were able to get to them. We decided it was worth going back for another time.

One of the coolest experiences I have had in Hawaii is to be so close to them and then to go back and swim and snorkel with them. We were able to get right up close to them in the water.

Yes Kerry actually got me in the water to snorklel with him, it was so clear and fun to see the turtles up close.

Hi everyone!

At one point Rebecca was standing in the water watching and a large turtle swam right around her in a circle. Later as Kerry and I were standing talking a turtle swam right between us and it even touched my leg, since we can't touch them it was pretty cool to have it touch me. I think that this is my favorite beach to visit right now. It was quite an amazing experience for a land lover like me. I think Kerry was pretty excited that I actually went into the water again. I will keep trying.

It was a really fun trip with Rachel, Cameron, and Rebecca and I am amazed that we have been to many of the same places but experienced different things each time.

The PCC and the Laie Temple

There is always a trip to the PCC and to the temple grounds.

Beginning with the canoe ride in the morning.

We went to the Tongan Village for Cameron to be able to play the drums notice the crown and the smile below.

We went to the Samoan Village and saw our favorite guy there at the PCC. Even though I have seen his routine many times I still laugh as if it were the first time.

This is as close as Rachel got to Easter Island she would love to have gone to visit during her mission in Chile but wasn't able to.

It was really hot and we went to see the 3D presentation about the coral reef and the headed to the luau.

This was the last time we will see the current show, they are bringing in another one at the end of the summer.

We stopped and posed in front of the temple even though it is currently being remodeled right now. So these guys didn't get to see it lit up at night either.

When we pulled up to the visitor's center the missionaries were trying to help out someone who had accidentally locked their keys in the car. Those of you fro Utah might recognize Elder Eubanks the former weather man from channel 5 news, he is currently serving as the Visitor Center President. It's just funny to see missionaries trying to break into a car.

Foodies

We've been told the best shave ice on the Island is at Matzamoto's on the North Shore so we went back again, the line was a little longer this time but it was worth the wait.
We love to go to the Dole Plantation and get a Dole Whip and play around on the grounds. Of course we love to take everyone to Rosie's Cantina for dinner. But during this meal we over heard the server telling the table next to us that they were going to be closing at the end of July. When we asked about it they confirmed, they lost the lease after many years and rather than trying to find another place he just decided to close it down. SAD DAY!!!!!!! It really is one of my favorite places to eat on the Island.

After one of our long days playing Rachel, Rebecca and I were playing Phase Ten and Kerry went sound asleep on the couch while Cameron watched tv. We took several pictures of him and were laughing quite loudly and he didn't even stir. When I went to turn the air conditioning down he woke up instantly go figure. We played long and hard tyring to take in as much as we could while they were here.
