Having been in Honolulu several different times with several different family members it's hard not to show the same old shots as we see the same old things. The thing is even though some things don't change the people and experiences change. As we went to Pearl Harbor it was fun to see it with Cameron because of his knowledge of history and his respect for what happened here. The bad part of the day was that Rebecca wasn't feeling well so she stayed at the hotel while the three of us went.
The USS Bowfin:
An aircraft carrier was in Port the day the we went to Pearl. I knew that they were big but had no idea how big. This one had been there for several days and was scheduled to leave while we were there. It would have been fun to watch it sail out. Most of the employees at Pearl were ready to have it leave. I guess the city of Honolulu probably was too because of all of the happenings on Waikiki!
This is the gun turret from the Memorial
Rachel and Cameron taking it all in.
The oil was coming out of the Arizona in larger and darker spots than I had seen. It makes me wonder what will happen when the hull finally gives way and the oil comes pouring out.
I still can't believe the tragic events of Pearl Harbor. The flag blowing on top of the memorial always makes me very sentimental.
